We create heirloom-quality totes, handbags, and home baskets designed to bring ease, beauty, and intention into modern life. Each piece is crafted by hand, woven in small batches, and finished in signature color palettes you won’t find anywhere else.

from Katherine

For 22 years, I have poured my energy into running my dental practice — and for the last 14, I was also raising my wonderful kids. Life was full, fast, and rewarding, but last summer I felt a tug. I needed something that was just for me; a creative outlet that fit into the life I love, without taking me away from my family. I wanted to slow down, be more present, and reconnect with a quieter place.

A trip to Maine sparked it. The intentional, unhurried rhythm of life there stayed with me. But the seed was planted earlier — during a ziplining trip in Colorado, someone casually asked, “What are your hobbies?” and I froze. It hit me that I didn’t really have one.

I’d always admired a basket weaver whose work I’d followed for years, and while browsing in Portland, I recognized one of her pieces. That moment sealed it. I ordered a few of her kits, sat down, and started weaving. My first baskets were… let’s just say “character-building,” but I was obsessed. I’d wake up thinking about new shapes, sketch ideas between tasks, and weave at night once the house quieted down.

About twenty baskets (and many creative detours) later, I finally had pieces that felt like me. I carried my everyday tote around and kept hearing, “Where did you get that?” Friends, strangers — everyone wanted one. So, I started gifting them, which is my love language anyway. And then people began asking if I could make one for them too.

The sweetest part? My family loves it. Much less nagging from me (every mom gets this), and one of my daughters has started learning alongside me. My husband is biggest fan; encouraging, dreaming with me and is even taking on the task of stamping each one.

And that’s how KJ Weaving came to life. I’m following the thread to see where it goes, and I’m grateful you’re here for the journey.

If you’d like something made just for you, I’d love to create it.
